Welcoming ITU’s New International Students

We invited ITU's new international students to join a social case competition designed to help them settle into life in Denmark and get to know each other.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of welcoming our new international students to ITU at Next Stop Denmark, a two-day social case competition designed to help them settle into life in Denmark and get to know each other.

Over the course of the weekend, students worked in teams to develop innovative and creative ideas on how to make the transition to Denmark easier for future internationals. For many, this collaborative and hands-on approach to learning was a completely new experience compared to their home countries.

To make the weekend even more special, we invited members of our startup hub to join us for a community dinner, hosted a Kahoot quiz about Denmark, and created plenty of space for informal conversations and connection. It was inspiring to see new friendships forming across study programmes.

At ITU, more than a hundred international students join us every year, and they now represent over 20% of our student population. We know that arriving in a new country can be both exciting and overwhelming: finding housing, navigating public services, getting a CPR number and a bank account, all while starting university. That’s why building a welcoming, supportive community for our international students is something we prioritise deeply.

A special thank you to IDA for joining us to share the value of union membership in Denmark, and to Otto Mønsted’s Fond for making this event possible.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming the next group of international students next year.
