Come and join us for a cosy event with community breakfast, a friendly gathering and an inspirational talk. Everyone is welcome!
Talk of the day:
Turn Your Experiences into Skills Employers Understand
You may be learning more outside the classroom than you realise.
Volunteering, joining a student organisation, attending workshops, working on a startup idea, or having a part-time job that seems unrelated to your degree can all help you build valuable skills. Even a short event or workshop can give you new perspectives, tools or experiences that are worth recognising. The challenge is knowing how to identify those skills and communicate them clearly to future employers.
In this session, you will learn how to translate your extracurricular activities and experiences into concrete skills, achievements and examples that strengthen your CV and LinkedIn profile.
Drawing on an HR and talent development perspective, the session will explore:
- How to identify the skills you gain from different experiences
- How to turn activities into concrete and credible CV examples
- What employers look for when hiring graduates
- How to present experiences that are not directly related to your field of study
- How to build a stronger professional story about who you are and what you bring
Whether you have volunteered, joined a workshop, worked in a café, participated in a student organisation, explored a startup idea or done something completely different, this session will help you make those experiences count.
This session will be led by Britt Bargfeldt, Vice President of Group Talent & Development at STARK Group. Britt is also one of the mentors supporting startups in ITU NextGen.
As always, we start with breakfast and some informal mingling, followed by a talk.
